5 Habits That Increase Productivity & Peace
Today we are going to discuss a few ways to help you walk into your inner Queendom with ease. We are going to go over some healthy habits you can introduce into your daily routine immediately that will not only help increase your level of productivity, but also improve your peace of mind. Truth is our habits, whether good or bad, have a huge impact on how productive we are on a daily basis. They also play a huge part in keeping our sanity! For example, according to Springer Link, someone who doesn’t get a lot of sleep is more likely to have repetitive negative thoughts than someone who gets their full 8 hours each night. We don’t know about you, but we are determined to have a productive and prosperous year, and in order to do that, we have to learn some better habits and let go of those negative habits that are keeping us from being the Queens we were born to be! So let’s dive right in shall we?
1. IMPROVE YOUR PRAYER LIFE
We don’t have any concrete statistics to give you on this one, but we can tell you from our own personal experience, PRAYER WORKS SIS! Yes, that’s right; having a little talk with the man upstairs can give you an amazing sense of peace that no song or bottle of wine can! We know it sounds cliché, but prayer is always the first and most important step to getting through whatever it is you may be experiencing. Whether you are stressed out about your business, your children, your relationships, or whatever else, try giving it to God in prayer and wash your hands of it. Matthew 21:22 says “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” There’s so much power in that scripture Queen. That means there’s literally NOTHING God can’t handle for you if you simply talk to Him about it. For those of you, who are intimidated by praying, don’t be! There’s no need to be. Prayer is simply a conversation with God. You don’t have to pretend to be somebody you’re not when you’re talking to him because he already knows the real you. So try this… the next time you find yourself stressing about WHATEVER, take a deep breath and send up a quick prayer, even if it’s only “God, I need you to help a sista out!” That’s more than enough!
2. WAKE UP EARLIER
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “The early bird, gets the worm.” This is a saying that holds to be true amongst many of the world’s most successful people. Michelle Obama told Oprah Winfrey that she’s up at 4:30 am every morning to work out. Oprah herself shared that her own morning routine consists of waking up around 6:00 am. She wakes up, makes herself her favorite breakfast drink and gets a nice workout in before she starts her day. Waking up early can have so many positive effects on your day, from being more relaxed and prepared to literally having more time to take care of those things on your heavy to-do list. So, try waking up 1-2 hours before you normally would and dedicate this time to self-care. Write in your journal, pray, meditate, work out, eat a good breakfast… do whatever you feel you should to better prepare yourself for the day and watch how much better your day turns out.
3. WRITE YOUR GOALS DOWN
I’m sure you have some pretty big dreams and goals and if you’re anything like us, you are beyond ready for them to come into fruition. Well, one of the ways you can ensure your dreams become your reality, is by taking the time to actually write them down. According to Forbes, “A Harvard Business Study found that the 3% of graduates from their MBA who had their goals written down, ended up earning ten times as much as the other 97% put together, just ten years after graduation.” Crazy right?!? Forbes also says that “vividly describing your goals in written form is strongly associated with goal success, and people who very vividly describe or picture their goals are anywhere from 1.2 to 1.4 times more likely to successfully accomplish their goals.” If simply writing down your goals will increase your chances of accomplishing them, why wouldn’t you at least give it a try? Try buying a planner or putting some of your mini goals on sticky notes around the house if you’re a little more unconventional. You may even want to create a vision board to help map out your goals! Do whatever is best for you, but get those goals and plans written down Queen!
4. WORK ON YOUR DREAMS DAILY
There’s absolutely no way you will ever accomplish something if you don’t work at it consistently. A good way to improve consistency is by making sure you do SOMETHING towards yours dreams daily. Whether it’s posting to your business’ social media, preparing some future blog posts, making some business calls or simply researching topics that are relevant to your goals, doing something that will get you closer to your ultimate goal is proven to be very beneficial. We know it gets hard to do this every day, especially if you work a 9 to 5 or you have children. We get it…sometimes you’re just out right exhausted and don’t feel like thinking too much after a long day at work or after you’ve finally got the kids to bed. However, even though it’s understandable, it’s not a good enough excuse to let your dreams pass you by. If you really want to walk, talk, and act like a Queen, you have to put your big girl panties on and find the strength to still get things done! (If you need a little help with this, we strongly suggest reverting back to the first habit we mentioned in this post!) Also, don’t trick yourself into thinking you have to do something “major” every day to make your dreams become a reality. Baby steps are always better than no steps!
5. STOP MULTITASKING
Contrary to popular belief, multitasking isn’t always the best way to get things done. Entrepreneur.com says that multitasking can actually, increase stress, weaken your memory, and kill your creativity! Oh no! Our brains are literally designed to tackle one task at a time, so rapidly switching from one thought to another, in hindsight, only puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on the brain, causing us to be way less productive than we wish to be. So, slow down Queen! Beyoncé wasn’t built in one day and neither will you! Take everything one step at a time and we promise the benefits will be well worth it!
These 5 simple habits have proven to be very beneficial to our daily lives and we hope they do the same for you! Even if you can’t implement them all at once, try a couple and come back and tell us if they worked for you and how!
